To commemorate the 158th Birthday of Anagarika Dharmapala, the founder of the London Buddhist Vihara and the 96th anniversary of the Vihara, a memorial lecture and Paritta chanting was held on Saturday 17 September 2022. Fifteen monks from a number of Sri Lankan temples in the UK and the three resident monks took part in chanting in the specially built Mandappeaya.
The memorial lecture was delivered by the Most Venerable Dr Dedunupitiye Upananda Thero, Chief Sangha Nayaka of North America, on 'Citizen's responsibility to society: A revisit to Anagarika Dharmapala's life and service'
Offering of Buddhapuja and Morning Dhana to the Maha Sangha was held on the following day during which Transferring of Merits to the Late Anagarika Dharmapala, Founder of the London Buddhist Vihara and to all the monks and devotees who have helped in the vihara in it's developments through out the long years.
