Sapphire, the largest student-run Sri Lankan event in the UK, organised by the Sri Lankan Society of Imperial College London's 2021 event update. It is a dinner-dance held annually in London which attracts in excess of a thousand guests to experience live performances by exclusive Sri Lankan artists flown in from around the world culminating in an unforgettable night of Sri Lankan cuisine and much more.
Here's the Sapphrire 2021 event update.
Dear all,
Firstly, we would like to thank you for your support as we tried our best to plan Sapphire 2021. This truly would have been a spectacular event yet again. However, after much thought and consideration, it is with a heavy heart that we made the difficult decision to cancel Sapphire in March 2021.
The safety and wellbeing of our guests and community is our main priority and of utmost importance to us. Given the great deal of uncertainty that the pandemic has created we did not feel it was suitable to host an event that gathers such a big crowd for a dinner dance and flies in artists from Sri Lanka. We understand this may come as a big disappointment to many of you, and we fully share those sentiments with you.
However, in true Sapphire spirit, we do hope to host a few online and in-person events (depending on the government regulations at the time) in partnership with charities, which we hope you, our loyal guests will attend.
Keep an eye out for more details on our social media pages and website – we will post all updates there!
Please do reach out to us via email or message us if you have any questions or suggestions. We look forward to seeing you all again in the (hopefully) near future!
Warm regards,
The Imperial college, Sri Lankan society committee.
